Barnes-Jewish is home to 13 specialties ranked among the best nationally including cancer; digestives disorders; ear, nose, and throat; eyes; geriatrics; gynecology; heart and heart surgery; hormonal disorders; kidney disease; neurology and neurosurgery; orthopedics; respiratory disorders; and urology.
A 1,500-member medical staff, supported by a house staff of more than 800 residents, interns, and fellows, in addition to nurses and other health care professionals, offers exceptional care. Recognized for its excellent nursing care, Barnes-Jewish Hospital was the first adult hospital in Missouri to be certified as a "Magnet Hospital"? by the American Nurses Credentialing Center, and was redesignated in 2008 and 2013.

To date, Barnes-Jewish is the only hospital in St. Louis or the state of Missouri to be recognized among the best hospitals by U.S. News & World Report.
